Description
Item Name and Part Number:
Lot of Three Ultrasonic Transducer/Sensor that have specifications similar to Kobitone 400pt16

Item Description, Features, and Specifications:
This item is an Ultrasonic receiver assemblies from an X/Y location/digitizing system.

There are three receiver units included.
Each unit contains an Ultrasonic two pin transducer with specifications very similar to a kobitone 400PT16 (only variance we can find is the echo sensitivity is -65db where the kobitone is -45db)
A data sheet for the 400PT16 can be found here in PDF format on Mousers web page.
Kobitone units sell for approximately $6 each in single quantity's.

Our price is a low $5.25 for three units.

The actual specifications for this unit are as follows (from manufacturer):
Sensor is a round can .65in wide and .5in long
Two pins (ground and signal).
center frequency 40khz +-1.0khz
nominal impedance at fr 1000 ohm max.
sound pressure level 117dB @0dB re 0.0002ubar
Sensitivity -65dB @0 dB = 1volt/ubar
Ringing (max.) 1.2ms
Beam angle 40' (-6dB)
Capacitance 2400 +-20%pF
Operation Temperature -40 to +70' C
Storage Temperature -40 to +80'C

The boards are currently wired as a receiver using an lmv822m op-amp to condition the signal. (The Transducer can be used as transmitter in a different configuration)

Schematics of the input stage can be seen here.

The board also has two IR receivers (two pin devices inside of metal shields. Very easy to de-solder). They are not used in the ultrasonic circuit so they can be removed without disrupting that section.

These units could be used as a Range Finder/Proximity Sensor fairly easily by using a MAX232 chip to drive one of the transducers and using the second unit as the receiver.
Information on how to do this can be found on this web page.
